SeaPort-e is the Navy’s electronic platform for acquiring support services in 22 functional areas, including Engineering, Financial Management, and Program Management. NAVSEA established the SeaPort Office to meet strategic sourcing objectives and OSD performance-based contracting directives. The SeaPort Enhanced (SeaPort-e) Multiple Award Contract (MAC) vehicle was established, which provides efficiency and standardization of solicitation offers through the use of a web-based, e-business procurement portal. This approach leverages buying power, improves business intelligence and reduces cycle time.
The ordering community of SeaPort-e was expanded in 2004 to include all Virtual SYSCOM activities. Other activities, including the Military Sealift Command (MSC), Strategic Systems Programs, Office of Naval Research, Defense Threat Reduction, and the United States Marine Corps have also chose to use SeaPort-e. |
